Welcome to Solana Beach

Life in Solana Beach

The sun shines bright on Solana Beach; this beachside town whose literal Spanish to English translation is “sunny spot.” Located just a lagoon north of Del Mar, Solana Beach is so quaint and beautiful you cannot help but feel right at home anywhere you go in this four-square-mile town. What was once open ranch land became a vibrantly planned community thanks in part to Ed Fletcher’s vision in the early 1920s; he spearheaded developing commerce in Solana Beach and functioned as a community planner with creative developments like Fletcher Cove and Cedros Design District. In addition to pristine beaches, Solana Beach has a train stop, public library and it is a mecca of designer shops, art galleries, artisan workshops, yoga and exercise studios, day spas, and casual eating spots. For those seeking entertainment, hundreds of rock and blues acts perform each year at the world-famous Belly Up Tavern on Cedros Avenue. Further east is the 125-acre San Dieguito County Park with a myriad of trails, picnic areas, and playgrounds. The components of the open outdoor areas, beach, unique homes, and small businesses from the perfect triad for beachside living.
